If you're a physician, you probably know this day by heart.
Clinic ends at 5. The charting ends at 8. Somewhere in between, there's a message from the front desk, a staffing question that can't wait, and that idea for a new service your patients keep asking about, still waiting for the right moment.
You didn't go into medicine for the paperwork. But somewhere along the way, it became part of the job.
We know that day well, because we've lived it together for about 25 years. Altura Health Consulting is what we built in response.
Two paths, one partnership
Jeanne: I've spent my career as a pediatrician and physician leader, building and leading practices that families trusted.
What I learned early is that great care depends on more than what happens in the exam room. It depends on the systems, the people and the time that make that care possible. When those pieces work, physicians can focus on patients. When they don't, everyone feels it.
Nicole: I started on the other side of the exam room door. For years, I supported the operations behind Jeanne's practices: staffing, scheduling, patient flow, managing multiple offices and leading an EHR implementation. It was where I learned that every workflow either supports the care or gets in its way.
From there, I spent more than a decade leading operations for fast-growing companies. I owned the financial models, built supply chains and teams, and helped guide a business through a private equity acquisition. I learned how strong organizations are built: clear processes, numbers you can trust, and people who are set up to succeed.
But healthcare was always home.
What we kept seeing
Over the years, the same story kept repeating. Talented physicians and dedicated teams were working harder than they needed to. Not because they lacked skill or commitment, but because the systems around them hadn't kept up.
We saw documentation that took too long and didn't always reflect the care that was given. We saw workflows that made sense years ago but now slowed everyone down. We saw practices with real opportunities to grow, adding behavioral health, extending hours, building partnerships, but no one with the time to plan and launch them.
Most consultants we met were either clinicians without operating experience or operators without clinical credibility. Physicians needed both: someone who understands the care, and someone who knows how to build the systems around it.
So we decided to be that partner.
What Altura does
Altura is a physician-led, operations-driven consulting firm. We work alongside independent practices and healthcare organizations in four areas:
Coding and documentation integrity. A physician-led program that assesses, builds, educates and sustains clear, accurate documentation practices, with compliance at the center.
Revenue optimization. Practice operations from the exam room to the back office: workflow efficiency, documentation excellence and physician-led education, starting with a practice operations assessment.
Service line development. Helping practices design, staff and launch new services, like behavioral health or after-hours care, so patients can stay with the practice they trust.
Growth and strategic development. Physician-led strategy for organizations ready to expand, from market mapping to partnerships and affiliations.
How we work
Every engagement starts with a conversation, not a package. We learn about your practice, your goals and what's getting in the way. From there, we look closely at how things run today and give you a clear, written roadmap. Then we do the work alongside your team, with defined deliverables, regular check-ins, and training and tools that keep improvements in place long after we're done.
No judgment and no one-size-fits-all fixes. Just a physician and an operator who have been where you are.
Where to start
If any of this sounds familiar, here's an easy next step:
Talk with us. If you'd like a second set of eyes on your practice, we'd love to hear what you're working on.
